The International Intercultural Film Festival (CCiiff) 2011,
29th Sept – 2nd Oct
Reflecting the differences that bring us together
The International Intercultural Film Festival (CCiiff) created by the Association CULTURE & CULTURES, is an annual meeting of the 7th Art. It presents a selection of feature films and documentaries dedicated to dialogue and exchange between cultures. The central theme: concern for each other, self assessment, the human condition and the Oneness of Man.
C&Ciiff is a member of the European Open-The-Door intercultural festival project launched by the European Festivals Association.*
“In times of urgent financial, institutional, and environmental challenges and increasing social discrepancy, an active citizen who contributes to the building of a ‘social’ cultural Europe is needed more than ever, (…) the European Festivals Association (EFA) (has) launched a project with a very simple message: Open Doors. Open Minds. Build Societies! In their core artistic missions, festivals are platforms for artistic testing, research and development; generate international connections and innovation; (…) are inclusive meeting platforms easily accessible by citizens from all walks of life; are deeply rooted in society; and enhance intercultural dialogue while raising awareness of societal issues.”
CCiiff committed to exhibiting films that express fresh voices and differing global perspectives. The selection focuses on works that explore ways of life, attitudes, and ways of thinking that confront given assumptions around conflict. Both a Showcase and a Film forum, CCiiff is also conceived to encourage the participant to reflect on our world today.
In the spirit of communication that characterizes the festival, forums take place – bringing together new filmmakers, experienced cinema professionals, intercultural experts and the public.
As an extension of the dialogue instigated in these forums, CCiiff encourages further informal exchange over food and wine. Prepared using local products grown with respect to the environment, these meals reflect the Culture&Cultures philosophy on sustainability: think global – act local.
